Performance Wossner Porsche Piston for Porsche 944 2.5 Ltr. Turbo all years vehicles. Part No. 9477

In order to assure the highest quality forged pistons, Wossner produces all of their own forgings in a plant separate from their piston manufacturing facility. In this way they can completely control the quality of the forgings which so crucially affect the end product. Made from 4032 T6 Aluminum, these forged pistons will hold up to the abusive life of a high performance piston.

Porsche made 25,107 944 Turbos worldwide from 1985 to 1989. The turbo’s offered incredible performance at a (relatively) modest price for the time. Today they are a favorite car to modify and they can make great power with good reliability. We are aware of 944 Turbos that are running as daily drivers with 18 psi of boost. One of the keys to reliability is to have pistons that can hold up to that pressure. Wossner has designed these pistons with this in mind.

As the 944 engine blocks were made out of Alusil, special consideration had to be given to a skirt coating which would hold up to the special requirements particular to Alusil. The factory 944 piston skirts had a Ferrostan coating which applied a very thin protection layer to the skirts of the pistons, but this process was banned years ago due to environmental concerns. So Wossner works with Dow Corning which produces a coating designed specifically for the special requirements of an AL piston running in Alusil blocks, however the coating does not exclude other lining materials. A block that has been repaired with a cast iron liner or one that has been Nikasiled can also run these pistons. Likewise , the ring pack that is provided can run on any of these surfaces.
